• Return to Learn:

The Webster City Schools Return to Learn Plan has been accepted by the Iowa Department of Education. The Return to Learn plan provides a high level overview of the districts plan to return to school in the fall. Webster City Schools staff are continuing to work on the many details that fall under the plans high level overview. There continues to be a great deal of uncertainty around what the start of the school year will look like in Iowa. We will keep you updated throughout the summer as we move forward in our planning and receive further guidance from the Iowa Department of Education and Department of Public Health. Letter from Dr. Ross

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am writing to provide you with an update on how the Webster City Community School District
is preparing for the start of the 2020-21 school year. The Iowa Department of Education has asked all school districts in the state to work on plans
for each of the following scenarios:

1) We are able to welcome back all students into our buildings and resume a mostly normal
school day schedule. This may involve enhanced cleaning protocols, mask wearing for
most students and/or staff, and social distancing.

2) The use of a hybrid model and staggered schedule. This could involve students
attending in-person classes on different days of the week, with the rest of their learning
taking place remotely.

3) We begin the school year delivering all instruction remotely, using a model similar to the
one we used this spring. All remote learning would be required under this scenario.

As you might imagine, each of these plans has many moving pieces related to instruction,
technology, transportation, food service, activities, cleaning protocols, and more. Consequently,
we have four work groups that include teachers, administrators, and community members to
address different aspects of this work. As we plan, we will be seeking your input and feedback
through a survey later this summer. Please watch your Infinite Campus account and the District
website for updates.

There continues to be a great deal of uncertainty around what the start of the school year will
look like in Iowa. We will keep you updated throughout the summer as we move forward in our
planning and receive further guidance from the Iowa Department of Education and Department
of Public Health.

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy your summer. Please stay safe and healthy!
Sincerely,

Dr. Mandy Ross, Superintendent
Webster City Community School District

Estimadas familias:

Atentamente,
Dr. Mandy Ross, Superintendent
Webster City Community School District
